Are you licensed for home boarding by the local authority?

How many dogs do you board at the same time?

JPD at Happier Hounds is licensed to board up to five dogs at a time, including their own two dogs, Amber and Cooper. This means we can board an additional three dogs.

Question 3

Do I need to do a trial night for my dog?

Accepted Answer

A trial night when booking overnight boarding is required. This insures that your dog is familiar with the surrounding and more importantly is comfortable prior to a longer stay. The trial includes a 6pm drop-off and 9:30am pick-up and costs £15.

What vaccinations does my dog need?

Accepted Answer

Dogs must be up to date with core vaccinations. Kennel Cough (Bordetella) vaccination is recommended but not mandatory. Proof of vaccination is required before any stay.

Do you accept puppies? If so, from what age?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Puppies are accepted provided they are fully vaccinated at least two weeks before their first stay and are a minimum of four months old. An additional charge of £5 per night applies.

Do you accept entire (unneutered) male dogs?

JPD at Happier Hounds unfortunately cannot accept entire (unneutered) male dogs over 18 months old for home boarding.

Will my dog be allowed off the lead?

Only with owner permission via an Off-Lead Consent Form and if the dog’s recall is considered reliable.

What should I bring for my dog?

To ensure your pet has a full home from home experience, please could you provide:

· Usual food

· Medication

· Treats

· Harness and collar

Comfort items such as beds, blankets, or toys are welcome but damage cannot be guaranteed against.

What are your drop-off and pick-up times?

Standard times are:

· Morning: 8:00am–10:00am

· Evening: 4:30pm–6:30pm

Late collection/drop-off until 8pm is available for a £5 surcharge. Different pick-up/drop-off slots may incur a daycare fee.

How do I pay, and when is payment due?

Payment is by bank transfer only.

· Daycare or stays of 3 nights or fewer: full payment upfront

· Longer stays: 20% deposit at booking, balance due 48 hours before stay

Deposits are non-refundable.

Where will my dog sleep?

Dogs sleep inside the home, usually downstairs on beds or sofas. Dogs with separation anxiety may sleep upstairs near the owners.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Deposits and advance payments are non-refundable. In some cases they may allow transfers to another date at their discretion.

What happens if my dog becomes unwell during their stay?

Owners are contacted immediately. Veterinary treatment will be arranged if necessary, and owners responsible for veterinary costs.

Do you provide updates on my dog's stay?

Yes. Regular WhatsApp updates are provided, and photos/videos may be shared on Facebook or Instagram with permission.
